The Free Online Marketing Audit Fallacy

Have you heard of this one? It goes something like:

FREE Online Marketing Audit Fill out this short form or give us a call to schedule your free online marketing audit.

What it should say:

FREE Online Marketing Audit Fill out this short form or give us a call to schedule your free online marketing audit ONLY IF YOU HAVE LOTS OF MONEY TO SPEND.

I think that would be more fair. And it's really not that big of deal. I won't waste your time.

If you are providing a free service, success should be built around goals and metrics and deliverables that go beyond generated revenue.

Maybe create a community for folks who can't afford the cost?

If you are taking my information, in exchange for a free audit, do that. Then upsell me. Don't do it in reverse.
